On January 10, 2019, the West Dorset District Council formally integrated the Askerswell Neighbourhood Plan into the development framework following a successful referendum held on November 21, 2018.
Adoption of the Neighbourhood Plan
The Askerswell Neighbourhood Plan, as amended based on the Examiner’s recommendations, has now been adopted by the West Dorset District Council. This decision means that the plan is now a vital part of the development strategy for the Askerswell Neighbourhood area. Referendum Results
The referendum for the Askerswell Neighbourhood Plan took place on November 21, 2018. Out of an electorate of 138, there were 63 participants (45.65% turnout), with 52 votes in favor (82.5%) and 11 against (17.5%).
Examination and Referendum Process
Following a comprehensive examination of the Askerswell Neighbourhood Plan, the West Dorset District Council authorised the plan to proceed to referendum. The council’s Decision Statement was released to confirm this action, and the referendum was conducted on November 21, 2018, throughout the Askerswell parish.
